FETAC Level 6 Train the Trainer

No. Of Participants: 8 (maximum)
Certification: An FETAC Level 6 Certificate will be awarded to each successful participant on this course.

Overview:

On successful completion of the above programme, participants will be equipped to work effectively with a range of learner groups, carry out job analysis & training needs analysis and design & deliver training programmes.

Candidate Requirements:

Level 5 certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Course Objective:

On successful completion of this course, participants will:

  • understand different learning styles
  • understand the functions and processes of learning and training
  • successfully evaluate different approaches to training
  • appreciate the importance of training on an individual, social and economic level
  • work effectively with a range of learner groups
  • design, deliver and evaluate training programmes
  • develop and implement appropriate assessment methods

Participants will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast concepts of training and education
  • Apply theoretical concepts to a coherent framework for training practice
  • Identify the prerequisites for effective communication in groups
  • Demonstrate and understanding of group dynamics
  • Explain key principles and methodologies which underpin adult learning of learning styles, learning outcomes, essential techniques
  • Evaluate the approaches of different adult learning theorists
  • Assess the contribution of the theorists

THE TRAINING PROGRAMME

Module 1 – Theory of Training and Adult Learning

  • Concepts of training and education
  • Prerequisites for effective communication in groups
  • Group dynamics
  • Key principles and methodologies which under pin adult learning
  • Approaches of various adult learning theorists

Module 2 - The Role of Trainer

  • Good training practice
  • Different learning styles, training styles and conflict resolution techniques
  • Appropriate work boundaries
  • Personal training and development needs

Module 3 – Training Needs Analysis & Programme Design

  • Identifying different job roles and the behaviours within those jobs
  • Identify training needs
  • Analysis training needs
  • Compilation of a list of learning and performance objectives
  • Ensuring the programme confirms to the requirements of certification bodies where appropriate

Module 4 – Preparing for Training Delivery

  • Planning of the training session
  • Preparing appropriate training methods
  • Producing exercises for use in the session
  • Preparing presentation tools or visual aids
