Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
 
Candidate Requirement
Anybody who is working in the profession of healthcare

Course Objectives: To teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with barrier devices, a bag mask device and oxygen), use of an Automated External Defibrillator and relief of foreign body airway obstruction. It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings.

Course Content:
  • Adult and Infant Chain of Survival
  • Learn how to call 999 or 112
  • Learn CPR for Adults, Children and infants 1 and 2 rescuers
  • AED Instruction
  • Recognition and relief of Choking in adults and children in responsive and unresponsive victims
  • Scenario based practice
  • Practical evaluation
  • Written exam

Certification: An Irish Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion card.
Duration: approx 4 hours
No. of Attendees: 6 participants to 1 Instructor
