Communications FETAC Level 6

Certification: A FETAC level 6 Certificate will be awarded to each successful participant on this course

Course Objective:

It offers learners an opportunity to reflect on the nature of human communication and on their own individual competence as communicators. It encourages learners who may already be practised and experienced communicators to explore ways of developing and refining existing skills to their full potential, in both professional and private life.

Candidate Requirement:

Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Course Content:

Day 1 : Information Gathering & the Communication Process

  • Know how to gather information using some of the recognised techniques such as surveys; fieldwork; documentary evidence etc
  • Outline the main features in the communication process and recognise the importance of perception in communicating

Day 2 : Non-verbal communication & Aural and Vocal Skills

  • Understanding of body language; signals; music; number; dance; colour etc
  • Access and discuss body language and the way physical environment communicates
  • Listening techniques and skills for active listening
  • Understand and demonstrate good speaking practice including professional presentations

Day 3 : Reading and Writing Skills & Interactive Skills

  • Comprehend and compose adult writing including how to apply reading techniques
  • Recognise and observe conventions of business writing such as composing reports etc
