Basic Scaffolding - A FÁS Certified Course

Certification: A FETAC National Certificate and CSCS card, which is valid for 5 years, will be awarded to each successful participant on this course
Course Objective:
To provide an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and attitude associated with the safe erection and dismantling of a range of scaffolding systems.
Candidate Requirement:
Candidates must have a minimum of six months full time experience, assisting in the erection and dismantling of a range of scaffolding. Have good communication skills. Good spatial and form perception. Candidates must have successfully completed the Manual Handling course. Cope physically and mentally with working at heights, ability to work as part of a team.
Candidates must also possess the FÁS Safe Pass Registration Card.
Candidates must be over 18 Years of Age.
Course Content:
- Statutory Regulations
- Health and Safety including safety policies, method statements and risk assessments
- Manual Handling including identifying hazards and techniques for lifting
- Fall arrest equipment - use of and inspection
- Ladders, knots, slinging and gin wheels
- Independent system scaffolds with return and debris fan
- Birdcage scaffold
- Towers - static and mobile
- Bridging and pre-fabricated beams, tubes and fittings
- Tying - various methods of safely tying the scaffold to the building
